FP3′s Penthouse 3 is this week’s featured home in The Boston Courant‘s Real Estate Guide.

Reporter Lise Beane recently took a tour of the magnificent space and fell in love with the open concept, amazing views and sun-splashed bedrooms.  She’s also a big fan of the neighborhood and its proximity to everything Boston has to offer.

Esquire Magazine will feature John Mariani’s annual “Best New Restaurants” list in its November’s issue- and the list is already posted on several ‘foodie’ blogs, including Eater.com.

Menton is Barbara Lynch’s newest fine-dining experience, named for a French town on the Italian border, and it’s located on the ground floor of FP3 along with Barbara’s extremely popular cocktail bar, Drink, and Sportello, Barbara Lynch’s spin on the perfect breakfast/ lunch counter spot!

When asked about the inspiration behind her culinary creations at FP3 during the construction of the project, Barbara Lynch explained:

” Because I was brought in at the beginning of the project, I was able to develop very personal and innovative concepts for FP3’s restaurant and retail spaces. For me, the restaurant experience is not just about high-quality food; it’s also about the overall culinary experience – from the right music and ambiance to highly knowledgeable and professional wait staff. I want to challenge people to slow down, relax, and enjoy life. I want to encourage them to linger and learn. What I’ve tried to pass on at FP3 is unforgettable experiences I’ve had myself, which I hope my patrons will also take pleasure in. “

Not only has Barbara left an amazing impression on the Fort Point neighborhood and her patrons; now the critics are singing her praises, too!  Congratulations to Barbara Lynch and the Menton team for this well-deserved recognition!!

A recent USA Today Travel article spoke about the ongoing revitalization of the Fort Point Channel neighborhood.

The author of the article, Rodrique Ngowi, emphasizes the improvements made to this 55-acre landmark district abutting South Boston over the last 3 decades, noting that the revitalization efforts have been paying off and attracting trendy bars and restaurants and Fort Point is now becoming a popular tourist destination.  Barbara Lynch‘s establishments on the ground floor of FP3 are on the short list of places to visit while in the Fort Point area:

” Fort Point Channel’s culinary scene is booming too. Notable spots include three restaurants from chef Barbara Lynch: upscale Menton, where the standard prix fixe dinner menu is $95; Sportello (the Italian word for “counter”), specializing in simple Italian dishes; and Drink, a laid-back bar known for creative cocktails. “

Fort Point attracts families with amenities like the Boston Children’s Museum and fun activities planned by the Friends of Fort Point Channel and other organizations in the area.

The author spoke with Gabrielle Schaffner of Fort Point Arts Community, a neighborhood nonprofit group run by members of the creative community.  She estimates there are currently about 300 artists live in the area now, making the Fort Point area one of the highest concentrations of artists in New England.  Twice each year thousands of tourists are drawn to visit the neighborhood during the Fort Point Open Studios, in which area artist simultaneously host open houses allowing people to tour their workspace and purchase their art.

Busy, busy, busy….

Pull out your fall social calendar…and costumes!!  There’s a lot going on in the Fort Point Channel area this weekend and the coming weeks.  While you explore the area, keep your eyes open for FPAC’s Fall Public Art Series which features temporary public art works installed throughout in the Fort Point neighborhood and even floating in the Fort Point Channel!

Fort Point Pumpkin Pageant

Thursday, October 28^th from 12-4pm

Every year, Friends of Fort Point Channel hosts the annual Fort Point Pumpkin Pageant.  Local businesses carve pumpkins and display them in front of the Childrens Museum where children and adults can vote for the best pumpkin!  Children can carve and decorate their own pumpkins while enjoying face painting and complimentary refreshments.  Costumes are more than welcome!  Visit the FP3 Facebook Page to see our entry from last year!

Halloween on the Harbor

Thursday, October 28^th from 6:30 – 10pm

Join us for the first annual Halloween on the Harbor, a progressive Halloween Party for adult trick-or-treaters at restaurants and bars in the Seaport District, Fort Point Channel and Fan Pier neighborhoods!  Area hotels, restaurants, and bars are hosting Halloween festivities, contests, and serving refreshments, and Old Town Trolleys will shuttle patrons to all participating venues.  The $5 cost to ride the Trolley will benefit the Friends of Fort Point Channel Pumpkin Pageant.  Prizes will be awarded for the best costume, so dress to impress!!  For more info visit http://www.facebook.com/HalloweenOnTheHarbor.

FP3 is pleased to announce our partnership with Art New England Magazine and the Fort Point Arts Community to bring you another great exhibition at the FP3 Art Gallery.  FP3 will be hosting works by two local FPAC artists, David Moore and Jeff Smith.

Their work will be on display from October 12th through January 3rd, with an Opening Reception scheduled for Friday, October 15th from 6pm to 8pm.  Friday the 15th is also the start of the Fort Point Artist Community’s Open Studios weekend!

The FP3 Art Gallery is located at 346 Congress Street, in the lobby space of the FP3 Residences.  Gallery hours are Monday–Friday 10am – 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday 10am – 4pm.

Jeff Smith Artist Statement:

” The work in this show represents the coalescence of techniques and ideas I have been developing throughout my journey to create a genre of my own making in a dimension somewhere between 2 and 3.

My palate comprises reclaimed materials.  The colors, patinas and often the shapes of the wood are as found.  When I make a piece, I am creating a jigsaw puzzle in reverse and without a box.  By creating sculpture from trash, I have invited the viewer to rethink what is or isn’t of value.   As Marshall McLuhan said, the medium is the message. Trash has been my clay since I began sculpting 20 years ago.

When making a piece I am composing a story with overlapping scenes and abstract meanings.  Much of my other sculptural work is physically interactive and kinetic.  These pieces are intellectually kinetic.

When viewed these pieces are atmospheric forays into the subconscious rather than representational.  If music, they would be instrumentals. The lyrics are what the viewer creates in his own mind. ”

David Moore, Ceide Field XXXV, 2009, oil/linen, 60” x 42”

David Moore Artist Statement:

” I have been painting about the use of line and color for more than 30 years.  These paintings are not about a verbal experience as words can only provide a threshold for your entry. Line is blurred into meaning.

My paintings have evolved from representational scenes of urban structures, cloud formations, tree textures, and water studies, to paintings of abstract monochrome grids and curvilinear structures. Saturated color, repeated linear markings, and glowing nuanced surfaces have been essential to my concept of “obsessive abstraction”.

The Ballinglen Series is inspired by travels in Ireland and a residency at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Ballycastle, County Mayo, Ireland.  Upon returning to the U.S. with a suitcase full of works on paper, I began a series of large oil paintings entitled “Ceide Field”. Measuring up to 60 inches and just off-square, and smaller oil studies, the paintings parallel the Irish landscape through abstract spatial loops and repeated mark-making.

Influenced by the peat bogs of the “Ceide Field” County Mayo, the coastal rock formations in Easky, County Sligo, the Slieve League cliffs of County Donegal, and the landscape of the Burren, County Clare, this work continues my exploration of the daily ritual of place, realized in paint by dramatic lines, gesture, and color. Line, color, and gesture is used to create micro/macro metaphors of topographical and biological synapses in the series of paintings entitled “Ceide Field”. “

FP3 Hosts 40 Under 40 Honorees

Last week, FP3 welcomed and hosted a networking reception for the Boston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Honorees…what an esteemed group of young professionals!  As a 2010 sponsor, FP3 welcomed this talented and aspiring group of entrepreneurs who are making a dramatic impact on Boston’s business landscape to an evening of social and corporate networking in one of our penthouse suites.

Some one hundred invited guests mingled, networked and socialized with each other, and enjoyed what was one of the nicest evenings of the summer.  Temperatures were still balmy and the terrace of Penthouse 3 served as the perfect back drop as the sun set behind the Boston skyline and the Harvest Moon rose above.

Aside from honoring present and past award-winners, the evening also provided the honorees with a chance to hear how they could leverage and use this distinction to their advantage during the course of every day business.  Sandy Lish, Principal & Co-founder of The Castle Group spoke to the group about creating your own personal brand, a hot and timely topic.

Special thanks to our event partners: Ambrosia Events & Catering, Cold River Vodka, Winston Flowers, and Party By Design [pbd] for making the night such a success!  Penthouse 3 looked amazing and everyone was blown away by the spectacular views, late summer cocktails and easy, flowing conversation and food.  Lots of business cards were undoubtedly shared that night!!
