Chic Shift in Boston Neighborhoods

FP3 and the Fort Point neighborhood are receiving national attention!

Check out the travel story by John King that appears in the San Francisco Chronicle….looks like the writer is smitten with the Fort Point area and its many attractions….

… “Another new/old frontier lies south of the Financial District, in the warehouses that once stored wool along Fort Point Channel. The best way to enter is on foot, across the wide dark waterway via the Summer Street Bridge. Once you cross, plunge down quiet Melcher Street. It’s a deep chasm of steep masonry: loading blocks and red brick on your left, generous windows and yellow brick on your right.

Another sort of view is available nearby on Farnsworth Street from the spacious concrete porch of Flour Bakery and Cafe. Across the way is Hacin + Associates’ FP3 – five stories of dark new brick topped by three stories of copper-clad penthouses, angled and attractively stark.”

“This is the best of the new Boston: informed by history but adding to it with intelligent restraint.

Drink Bartender Featured by Public Radio Kitchen

Fp3 is proud to be home the 3 of celebrity chef Barbara Lynch’s culinary creations; Drink, Sportello, and Menton.  Each space offers visitors a unique atmosphere, exquisite food, and unparalleled service (did we mention FP3 residents get special treatment?).

Public Radio Kitchen recently featured an interview with (and a delicious cocktail recipe by) Drink’s cocktail master, John Gertsen, as part of PKR’s ‘Meet Your Bartender Series.  The author notes that John has been mentioned and admired by all the previous local bartenders featured in the series thus far- a testament to his amazing talents and hospitable personality.

“John Gertsen is one of Boston’s most respected and talented bartenders.  For six years, he manned the bar at No. 9 Park, developing a reputation not only as a supremely inventive mixologist, but also as an expert on the history of cocktails, particularly drinks from the 19th and early 20th centuries.  Then, two years ago, with chef Barbara Lynch, Gertsen helped found Drink in Fort Point.  The bar quickly established itself as one of the finest and most original in the city, if not the country.”

Read the Full Interview and get John’s spin on a Sazerac, a classic New Orleans cocktail recipe he considers the one drink he’d choose as his ‘desert island’ drink, if he could only pick one favorite.  Try the recipe at home, or stop into Drink at FP3 next time you’re in the Fort Point area and ask John to make one for you!

Just think, if you lived in one of the luxury condos at FP3, you wouldn’t have to drive home after a night at Drink, and you could try a new creation by John every week!

Vicky Tomayko's Exhibition in today's Boston Globe

Vicky Tomayko is the latest artist to be featured in the art gallery at FP3.  Her collection of creatures will be on display and free for the public to view during regular business hours until October 9, 2010.  Some of Vicky’s work appeared in today’s Boston Globe.

Vicky’s art was reviewed by Cate McQuiad for the article.  In it, Cate notes:

“Her monotypes of monstrous creatures at FP3 are both comic and melancholy, and she has a vibrant color sense. Look at the drypoint monotype “St. John the Baptist as an Artist.’’ The squishy figure is, of course, headless, and he grips to his chest a pink, heart-shaped critter with one eye on a stalk and a protruding, forked tongue. The suggestion is that this artistic St. John speaks from his heart, but even when the heart speaks, you can’t entirely trust what it says.”

Stuff tonight notes that Vicky “takes inspiration from nature but imbues her landscapes with wit and weirdness, creating narrative worlds full of whimsical creatures — watchful forests, chubby antenna-eyed bipeds, friendly amoebas. Much of her recent work incorporates multiple printing techniques and focuses on liquid spaces.”

Boston Condo Sales Pick Up

Downtown Sees 30% Increase in Condo Sales

FP3 FHA Approved

Boston’s downtown condominium market saw sales surging by 30 percent in the second quarter of this 2010 when compared with the same period in 2009, according to data released by Listing Information Network, a Boston firm that tracks real estate.   The number of condos sold between April and June of last year was 653, this year it was up to 849 for the second quarter.

Sales in luxury buildings, such as FP3, offering amenities such as valet and concierge services —increased by 9 percent to 121 sales in the second quarter, compared with the 2009 quarter, according to the data.

In a recent Boston Globe report on the downtown Boston condo market, Joseph Laurano, director of operations for developers Berkeley Investments, attributed the recent sales at FP3 to a change in marketing strategy as well as improvements in the economy and continuing low interest rates.  “The [FP3] building is now 60 percent sold.  Folks on firm financial footing view now as an opportunistic time to purchase urban real estate.’’

If you’ve been thinking about investing in a condo in Boston, why not schedule a tour of FP3 and see what living in Boston’s Fort Point area has to offer!  Live in a new Boston development, with luxury amenities close to Boston’s Financial District and waterfront.  Boston waterfront condos with FHA approval are hard to find- don’t pass this opportunity up!

Plugged In: Fort Point Channel

(styleboston) – Get Plugged In to Fort Point Channel, former industrial hub, now, home to much of Boston’s artist community. Tony Corey chats with Joanne Chang, the mastermind behind Flour Bakery + Café, the newest of which just opened in Cambridge. When Joanne Chang came to Fort Point they thought she was crazy. Now, Fort Point Channel is a creative, vibrant neighborhood, so close to downtown crossing, that on any given day it’s all abuzz.

Chang isn’t the only one who’s made her home there. Barbara Lynch’s food empire is based in Fort Point, Thompson Reuters spans an entire street and, of course, ADD Inc and Rue La La brighten the skyline.

What’s most compelling about living or working in Fort Point? According to ADD Inc.’s Fred Kramer – the people. He said, on any given day, walking down the street, you’re likely to bump into another creative soul, someone who’s young, up and coming, and part of the movement. When you walk down the street in Fort Point, you mingle with artists, designers, green urban planners and a whole lot of intellectuals.

If that doesn’t get you down to Fort Point, Joanne Chang’s cupcakes will! Not only do they “taste like air” according to Tony, but most of them are Vegan! Just like the neighborhood’s credo – there’s a little bit of something for everyone.
